RecycleMania 2011 a success here

WUSTL recycled 556,623 pounds of waste to rank in the top 5 percent nationally in the annual RecycleMania contest’s Gorilla category. WUSTL also increased its diversion rate — or percentage of total waste recycled or reused — by nearly 10 percent during the competition. FULL STORY

Picture this: Adding art to the neighborhood

Students from the Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club Adams Park Unit paint a mural promoting the Tour de Grove bike race in the Grove neighborhood bordering the Washington University Medical Center. The Washington University Medical Center Redevelopment Corp. received a grant from the St. Cronin Housing Corp. to fund four murals in the neighborhood. MORE

  • Men’s tennis second at UAA championship. The No. 5 men’s tennis team lost 6-0 to No. 2 Emory University in the 2011 University Athletic Association (UAA) championship match April 17. Emory gains the UAA’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, which begins May 13, while WUSTL (14-5) will wait to see if it is selected for an at-large bid.
